Bad Maman: a sticky combination of foraging, fundraising and feminism

Bad Maman combines foraging, fundraising and feminism. We believe in spreading the love , so if you’d like to join us at future Bad Maman events where we have fires, music, food, aperitifs and fun, please get in touch via the contact page and I’ll put you on the mailing list.

Fruit ninjas forage fresh fruit that I use to make a range of delicious jams, chutneys, aperitifs and liqueurs which we then sell to support women and children living in refugee camps in Northern France, and have raised nearly £8,000 to date. Here is a fruit ninja out foraging lovely ripe plums for Plum and Ginger Jam.
Foraging plums

We reuse jars and bottles, filling them with yummy, stolen goodness… We need jars

…and stick a Bad Maman label on each one.

Grape and rosemary jelly_edited-1
We have some lovely recipes; above are some jars of our Grape and Rosemary Jelly and below Greengage and Star Anise Jam. Amongst our many delights are Creme de Framboise, Vin de Noix, classic Rhubarb and Ginger Jam and the more innovative Bluetooth Jelly, which makes your teeth a scary shade of blue (great for Hallowe’en).

Damsons make great jam. We foraged these from trees in Bristol and Gloucestershire to make our Damson in Distress jam and winter warming gin.

We keep the Dunkirk spirit strong with a drop of sloe gin for the workers!

Gin and Jam Pram 2We have several fundraising events each year including the fly by night Gin and Jam Pram, and below is last year’s Winter Stall where people bought politically active Christmas presents for their nearest and dearest.
